A question you need to ask when developing your brand is 'who is your target audience?'
Knowing and understanding your audience, especially your ‘most desirable’ customer categories, are key to developing a successful brand, and therefore a successful business. Who are they, what do they like/dislike, what are their aims?
Depending on your business type, preferred customer profiles could range anywhere from a fashion line aimed at a particular gender and age group, to a holiday destination for an entire family.
It is up to you as the entrepreneur to choose your audience, and the designer or agency to ascertain how best to target said-audience by engineering a strong branding campaign using targeted marketing.
Or of course, you could just not bother…and watch your competitors thrive.
